International Film Festival

The Film Festival is an annual event which takes place every August in Locarno. It belongs to the world’s most important cinema film festivals. Within 10 days different films are presented to the visitors on the large screen direct on the Piazza Grande and in the new cinema building “Palacinema”, just a few steps from Dell’Angelo.

JazzAscona

During 10 days in June, the JazzAscona animates the streets of Ascona and the boardwalk of the Lake Maggiore with concerts, late-night jam sessions and tributes to great artists of the past. It is the only Jazz Festival outside of the USA that is officially supported by the city of New Orleans.

Moon & Stars Concerts

The largest festival in the southern Alps is also the most atmospheric. Locarno’s Moon & Stars attracts every July thousands of music fans and the Piazza Grande turns into a giant concert arena. Behind the stage, the Food & Music Street with various food trucks and bars offers all kind of culinary desire.

Locarno on Ice

The ice-skating rink is in the middle of Piazza Grande and offers place for hundreds of ice skaters. The music and twinkling lights give a special atmosphere and let enjoy every minute of this beautiful winter event. Three igloo bars and various food stands surround the ice-skating rink.

Locarno Camellia Exhibition

The Locarno Camellia exhibition is one of the most important events of its kind in Europe, with over 200 types of this splendid flower.
The exhibition takes place every year in March.

Luci e Ombre

​Animation, music, gastronomy and incredible fireworks are the ingredients of Luci e Ombre, a mid-summer festival taking place over a long weekend on the Locarno-Muralto lakeside and ends with the beautiful fireworks.

Music Weeks Ascona

The music weeks in Ascona, with its rich program of symphony concerts, chamber music evenings and single instrument recitals, has come to represent, over the last seventy years, the most important classical music festival in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.The world's most renowned artists have visited Ascona at least once, with many others returning several times.
The concerts take place in the picturesque setting of the churches Collegio Papio in Ascona and San Francesco in Locarno.
